Do you have a location workstation? Yes, Several configurations available, including Mac Pros, MacBook Pros, and iMacs. All outfitted with SSDs and tons of RAM. I also have an Eizo Coloredge CG210 display, Wacom Intuous 4 tablet, and some other goodies.
My latest trick is using an iPad with Capture One's Pilot software - very cool.
Camera Expert: Very familiar with Phase One digital backs, Canon, Nikon and Leica digital cameras, as well as Hasselblad and Mamiya camera systems (both film and digital).
Do field retouching? Some, yes. Not a hard core beauty retoucher.
Do you feel comfortable retouching while people watch? Yes
Are you an expert at troubleshooting operating systems, calibrating monitors, setting up a network, automated backups, file formats, servers, raids, scripting? This is my area of expertise. Prior to working in the photo biz, I worked as a Mac IT guy (also as a Mac Genius for Apple, back when it was cool), from repairing hardware and handling all sorts of mission-critical situations on set to explaining how things work to people who aren't technology-savvy. I'm also quite quick behind the keyboard, and love saving time whenever possible.
What raw processor do you prefer? I think Capture One is still the best at RAW conversion, and it's the best for shooting tethered. Lightroom is also quite good these days.
Special Skills I'm an extremely resourceful fellow, and really thrive when working with a team of motivated creative people. I don't get stressed out easily, and have a tendency to bring a calming vibe to high-pressure situations, or so I'm told. I've worked as a photographer, photo assistant, lighting assistant, and equipment manager, in studios and on location as well. I am very organized and know how to pack the hell out of an equipment case.
You know how when it comes to computers, there are the kinds of folks that are cursed, and everything seems to go wrong no matter what they do, and then there are the kinds of people that once they show up, everything seems to start working all of a sudden? I'm one of the latter.
